Parts of a Laptop
The parts of a laptop come from as few manufacturers as the laptops themselves. These are world-wide market shares.
Here is who makes motherboards, the heart of your computer and their chipsets, the hearts of the mother boards. - Asus (ASUSTek Computer Inc.) 37.2%
- Gigabyte (Giga-Byte Technology Co., LTD.) 19.2%
- MSI (Micro-star International Co. LTD.) 8.5%
- Abit (Universal ABIT Co., LTD.) 5.7%
- DFI (DFI Inc. or Diamond Flower Inc.) 4 %
- Total 74.6%

The Graphics Processors that send what you see to the screen. - Intel 47.8%
- Nvidia 30.7%
- AMD (ATI) 19.3%
- Total 97.8%
These numbers for graphics processors are no longer really meaningful. Both Intel and AMD include a graphic processor with the cpu of their more recent processors. All new computers with Intel processors have integrated Intel graphics units and all new AMD processors have integrated AMD graphics units. The number of discrete graphics units sold is decreasing. The Nvidia share of the AMD processor graphics market should approach zero. AMD allows the integrated and discrete processrs to work together and provide a faster solution. I expect the market share for discrete graphics processors in Intel powered computers to remain about 60% Nvidia to 40% AMD as it currently is. As you can see almost all parts of a laptop come from a very limited number of manufacturers.
