Nvidia Graphics Cards --Two are better than one.Nvidia graphics cards and ATI radeon graphics cards are the premier discrete note book video cards. Nvidia SLI dual grahics cards are probably still fastest for many games, although the AMD Radeon HD 6990M is the fastest single card. The SLI configuration gets a better game rating than the AMD Crossfire.Nvidia released the GeForce 300 series of mobile graphics processors. These have technical improvements over GeForce series graphics cards, but the 64 and 128 bit memory bus that are available are slower than the 256 bit bus on the fastest of the GeForce 200 series. The GeForce 400 and GeForce 500 series are faster still and have the wider 256 bit bus. The GeForce 9800 cards with the 256 bit memory bus are also faster than the 300 series. None of the older Nvidia grahics cards were Direct X 11 compliant. This means that the generaton of games now under development will not be playable with the greatest fidelity with these cards. The GeForce 400 and 500 series of mobile processors are Direct X 11 compliant. The GeForce GTX 485M and the GeForce GTX 580M in the SLI version maybe the fastest overall graphics solution for laptop computers when gaming. The AMD Radeon HD 6990M Crossfire runs the general graphics benchmarks faster. Some people say the SLI drivers make the Nvidia cards game better. Nvidia seems to make many more models of there video cards then AMD/ATI. Right now, the GeForce 500 series are their top end graphics cards. Several of the older 400 series are right up with them in speed though. A computer you will use for playing new games should have at least the GeForce GT 525 or 540. laptop-computers-wiz homepage |
