Cheap Laptops and Notebooks

We are looking for cheap laptops and notebooks. The laptop parts we want to equal or better


in our notebook are the parts we found and priced out at the HP website:

• Processor--Intel Core i3 370M or faster
• Operating System--Vista 64 bit or Windows 7 are OK. I wouldn't expect to see Windows Vista on a machine now, but if you do be sure to get a 64 bit version.
• Memory--4 GB DDR2
• Hard Drive--250 GB or larger
• Optical Drive--CD/DVD rw
• Video Display--1280X800 or 1366x768.)
• Video Card--NVidia 9600M-GT or GeForce 520M or AMD 6490 or better
• Wireless Network Card-wireless b/g/n

A worse processor, less memory, poorer video display, or a 32 bit operating system would be a deal breaker.

The hard drive is the one thing that you can almost certainly upgrade if you need to, so size isn't that big a deal. Whether you can use the draft n card depends on your other equipment.

Close is good enough for the video card also. A Nvidia GeForce card with a number X20 or higher or an AMD Radeon HD card numbered 6490 or higher should do. For the older ATI cards its a little more complicated. The price we are looking to beat is the one we got from the HP Home and Home Office Store, about $700. We can look at brick and mortar stores and online computer retailers.

We are looking for cheap laptops and notebooks that are as good as the HP, but we want the best deal on a laptop-- a better price. We should look at a price below the price we found. We find two Acer here at better prices. They have better processors (second generation core i5) and a Nvidia GeForce 540M graphics card. The Acers are a 14 inch and a 15.6 model. Everything in these computers are as good or better than the HP, and the price is about 25$ lower before shipping. There is and one Asus 15.6 with the same processor and video card at just over $700. All three are better computers than the HP.
