The Best Deal Laptop
The best deal on laptop computers is personal. Everyone's best deal laptop computer is different.
We are going to find the best laptop to buy through one of what I guess they call configurators. I find these very useful when looking for the "best deal" laptop computers. When I choose a laptop to buy I generally know what laptop to buy as far as equipment level. I am looking for that laptop on sale, the best laptop to buy at this level. I'm going to find a good laptop on sale. The sort of hardware we're looking for in this best deal laptop is - Processor Intel Core i3 370M or faster
- Graphics Discrete graphics Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT or GeForce 520M or AMD Radeon HD 6490 or better
- Memory at least 4 GB
- Hard drive 250 GB or larger
- Optical drive dual layer DVD RW
- Display WXGA or better
- Wireless internet card 802.11n
The processor is sort of a bottom point. We are looking for an Intel Core i processor. The i3 370M is a 2010 model. The 2011 models have a four digit number starting with a 2. The age of the processor is what makes a computer like this a best laptop to buy. It is cheaper because of its age. Generally you can find such a laptop on sale. WXGA is 1280 X 800 or 1366 X 766. Both are hi-definition (720p). The first upgrade is 1440 X 900. "Full" hi-definition is 1920 X 1080 or higher. What is desirable as the graphics card depends on screen size and how adventurous you are. I'm a bit conservative. Graphics cards generate a lot of heat that will burn out computers without sufficient cooling. Core i processors other than the first i7s have integrated graphics in the CPU package. The second generation chips announced in 2011 with the Intel HD Graphics 3000 (full powered i5 and i7)can run almost all games at low resolutions. With a 14 inch or smaller screen they probably would be sufficient. The 2011 Intel HD Graphics 2000 and the 2010 Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD Graphics generally won't play high end games and you might want a discrete card. At 14 inches I'd definitely top out at a AMD Radeon HD 6490 or a Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT or GT 520M. I would want at least a 128 bit memory bus. In a 15 to 16 inch model I might try up to a AMD Radeon HD 6830 or a Nvidia GeForce GTX 550M If I was getting a 17 inch screen laptop I might consider a faster video card, but, unless you're really a gamer or a graphics artist, you don't need it. I would not consider SLI or Crossfire cards without special cooling. The asymmetrical crossfire cards of some computers with the newest AMD APUs are a special case. There is only one discrete graphics card. To continue go to best deal on laptop and cheap laptop deals. I'll show you how to find the best laptop to buy.
