Best Buy Laptop Computers
The new best buy laptop computers have new Intel core i chips. The best laptop computers to buy will have one, preferably one of the second generation models.
Intel Processors From what I have seen, Intel Atom, Celeron, Pentium and second generation Core i (3,5 and 7) are currently in production. The Core 2 Duo processors and core i processors with three digit model numbers are inventory Intel or the computer makers had on hand. Atom processors are limited to net books, and "mobile devices". According to Intel, Celeron processors are for "basic computing". The core i processor family is the new mainstream processor group replacing the Core 2 Duo Processors that have been Intel's primary laptop processors with two generations available. The Pentium processors are still between the Celeron and the mainstream processors in performance. The new 32 mn. Core i processors currently have the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD Graphics built on the processor. This changes several things in buying computers. Unless you need very little computer power, that is, you surf the internet, download music and an occasional movie and just do light word processing you should not buy anything other than a computer with a core i processor. If that is all you need you may want to consider factory refurbished laptops. The slowest full power core i processor, the older core i3 330 M is fast. For speed, it is in the area that was the minimal "gaming" upgrade for processors not that long ago. It has been bench marked about the same as the Core 2 Duo P8600, a processor that was one of the lower end selections from the gaming computer specialists at the end of 2009. This makes core i3 equipped computers great for general use. They also are available at a relatively low price. You can order one from several different makers from several different places on line for about $600 before shipping and taxes. This is a price that is competitive with or below many laptop with slower older Core 2 Duo or Pentium Dual Core Processors. Below $600 I would consider buying a laptop computer with one of the older processors. Once we get much beyond this price I would not buy a computer with a Pentium processor and there is only one situation where I would buy a Core 2 Duo equipped laptop computer. Naturally, if your needs are beyond this, the best buy laptop computers change. You might want to consider an AMD llano equipped laptop. It is difficult to find a laptop computer with a discrete graphics card and a core 13 processor. Least expensive one I could find relatively easily was $800. Although the graphics card would play most games at the lowest settings, it wasn't a high end graphics card. For $30 or $40 more, you can get an older processor about the same speed (A P8600 or P8700) and a much better graphics card. Not long ago comparably equipped laptop computers were selling for hundreds of dollars more. These might be the new best buy laptop computers.
