Acer Notebook ComputersAcer notebook computers are the number two seller in both the U.S. and the world. The Acer Aspire notebook is the consumer line of the Acer laptop computer brand. To get Acer sales to number 2, the other brands the company owns must be counted as theirs. Acer formerly owned and probably still controls Wistron, one of the largest contract computer makers and has subsidiaries that make almost every computer component. They are one of the few companies that actually control the manufacturing of many of the parts in Acer laptop computers. Acer Aspire notebook computers are Acer's consumer products. The Travelmate and Extensa are aimed at business users. Acer makes computers that have displays ranging from 10.1 (net-books) to 17 inches. Unlike Fujitsu, Apple, Lenovo, Sony, Toshiba, Dell laptop computers, and HP laptop computers, Acer laptop computers are not available by direct sale from their website and the site does not allow you to "customize" a product to buy. Asus, Samsung, and MSI also do not have direct sales from their websites. The Acer website is helpful, though. The divide the product into groups which are essentially the same as other makers with an "all day computing" addition. They have a number of models in each line, and you can can choose the processor and other equipment at the level you want. The website will direct you to a retailer selling that model. The only way to get a price on an Acer computer is through these resellers. To find the best buy you will need to check multiple sellers. The website only lists products currently being made. Other models will be available at the authorized sellers, which seems to include all the major retailers of computers, both online and brick-and-mortar. I don't have an Acer, but that isn't deliberate. I do have a Gateway and am quite pleased with it. When I've banged on Acer's in retailers, they have been solid laptop computers. I have gotten other brands because they have been the machines on sale. Acer laptop computers are quality machines that come in adequate variety. They are gaining market share for a reason. Acer notebook computers are expected by the company to be the best sellers in the world by the end of 2011.
