HP Laptop Computers

HP laptop computers are the worlds best sellers.Hewlett Packard notebooks are led by the Pavilion line. Compact notebooks are also their product. I will just talk about HP notebook computers aimed at general consumers here. We will disregard their "business" models for now.

HP sells a full line of consumer laptop computers. The models which are my low entry type are the Compact Presario and the HP G series. HP says they are for "everyday computing" but they are most suitable for web-surfing and light word processing. These lines feature low end Intel and AMD processors. Discrete graphics are almost never available. They are the lowest priced Hewlett Packard notebooks with prices from under $400 to about $700.

The mid range, what I've called entry level to high end, HP laptop computers is the Pavilion line these range in screen size from 13 inches to 18.4 inches. Core i3, i5 and some i7 processors from Intel are available in this line. Upcoming models have been announced that will use the newly announced AMD processors. Discrete graphics can be had in many models. These laptops will run from around $600 for a stock 15 inch model to over $2000 for a well equipped 18.4 inch model.

The top end in the HP consumer laptop models is now called the Envy. Their top end was called the Voodoo Envy. Voodoo was a specialized gaming computer maker that HP bought. They no longer restrict the product to gaming models but also make computers designed to compete with the Apple models The start at about $1400 and the HP recommended configurations are over $2000. I'm not sure what the real top price is for these models.

HP notebook computers are generally solid machines which give you value equal to comparably equipped laptop computers from other makers.

HP has one thing that should be valuable to anyone shopping for a laptop computer. It is possible to customize a laptop on their website and get their price for that machine. This allows you to shop for a better price in other places for a similarly configured laptop computer. If it is less, you know you are getting it for less than the largest seller of laptop computers in the world would charge and you should be getting a reasonable deal. The HP laptop computer website differs from the Acer and MSI, Asus, and Samsung websites because it offers these direct sales. The website allows more customization than the Apple, Lenovo, Sony, Toshiba websites, and Fujitsu websites. The Dell website allowed about the same amount of customization.

For many HP laptop computers you can find them on sale in large retail stores for less than the HP site charges.
