About laptop-computers-wiz.com
Quite a few years ago, I was one of the first persons where I work to have a computer on my desk. It wasn't issued by my employer, it was one that the powers-that-be were discarding. It had been used as a remote connection to the mainframe. It still worked, and I begged or borrowed software to make my job easier. I kept that computer running with parts that I took out of other discarded machines for about six years, before the last 286 motherboard I could find in the building blew up (smoke and all) on me. During those years, home computers became the common sight they are now, and my co-workers got the idea that I knew something about computers. They began to ask me for advice about what to get when they were buying computers. Apparently I've been giving good advice because a lot of them came back for more when they needed a replacement, or, (more to the point for you) a laptop for a son or daughter starting college. I feel really bad if I give bad advice of any kind. That (and an interest in computers in general) has led me to keep up with what is for sale in laptop computers. My experiences, and the experiences of people I know, have taught me that if you don't know what you want to do with the computer you are getting and what you need as hardware to do those things, you will overpay for a machine that isn't right for you. I've really gotten a kick out of hearing that a student's new laptop is faster than their room-mate's and cost $500 less. My site will help you choose and buy the laptop computer you want or need as cost effectively as possible. If you think there are things I should write about or have comments about the site, use the form below to let me know.
